IEEE Communications Society Satellite and Space Communications Technical Committee http://www.comsoc.org/socstr/techcom/ssc/ SSC Newsletter Vol. 11. No.2, November 2001 Satellite and Space Communications Newsletter is published twice a year and distributed in ICC and GLOBECOM and also electronically at the SSC web site. The Satellite and Space Communications (SSC) Committee is a volunteer group actively involved in advancing satellite and space communication technologies within the IEEE. This committee is approved by the IEEE Communications Society and is governed by the constitution and bylaws of the IEEE as well as the other twenty Technical Committees in the Society. Currently SSC has around 100 members from academia and industry and sponsors several sessions in major IEEE conferences. From the November 2000 issue
of the SSC Newsletter, there is a perspective section on new research and
development in satellite communications. The purpose of this section is
to explore and promote important role of satellites in the next generation
wireless networks. Experts both from industry and academia are invited
to submit their contribution for possible publication in the upcoming Newsletter
Vol. 11, No. 2, to be published in November 2001. Hardcopies of the SSC
Newsletter will be distributed during the GLOBECOM 2001 in San Antonio,
Texas. Due to space limitation, contributions should be fitted into one
or two pages and may include a maximum of two figures or tables. Both tutorial
articles describing the state-of-the art and technical articles are welcome.
All submission will be reviewed and authors will be notified on whether
their paper has been accepted for this issue or not. Topics for this issue
