CALL FOR PAPERS

IEEE Semiannual Vehicular Technology Conference
VTC-2003 (Fall)

October 4-9, 2003, Hyatt Orlando Hotel, Orlando, Florida, USA

Symposium on Broadband Mobile Satellite Networks
Deadline for paper submissions: March 24, 2003

Symposium Chair: Prof. Abbas Jamalipour, University of Sydney, Australia (a.jamalipour@ieee.org)

The objective of this symposium is to provide a forum for researchers and technologists to present new ideas and contributions in the area of mobile satellite communications within the topics of interest of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2003-Fall). This symposium also intends to bring together various satellite network systems developers to discuss the current status, technical challenges, standards, fundamental issue, and future services and applications. Satellite will have a major role in providing a global interconnectivity for the next generation wireless mobile networks where the IP and high-speed broadband applications are the dominant services.

The topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

    • Emerging Mobile Satellite Systems
    • Satellite Network Architectures (GEO, LEO, MEO)
    • Inter-Satellite Links
    • Home and Small Office Internet Access via Satellite
    • Services and Applications
    • Multiple Access
    • Media Access Control Protocols
    • Traffic Management
    • Traffic Characterization on Modeling
    • Quality of Service (QoS) models
    • IP Protocols for Satellite
    • Navigation Services
    • TCP/IP Performance over Satellite
    • New Transport Protocols for Satellite
    • Network Control and Management
    • Wideband Wireless Access Networks
    • Routing Protocols
    • Hybrid Satellite and Terrestrial Networks
    • Mobility and Location Management
    • LEO/MEO Satellite Communications Performance
    • Simulation and Modeling of SATCOM Networks
    • Broadcasting Satellites
    • On-Board Processing and Switching
    • Internet Services over Satellite
    • Advances in Coding for Satellite Communications
    • Modulation Schemes for Satellite
    • Resource Allocation Algorithms
    • Link Performance Models
    • Advances in Antenna Technology
    • Reservation Protocols for Satellite Access

Submission
