The Successful NCSS Summer School 2013

The school of EIE organised the embedded stream of the NCSS summer school 2013. Twenty-nine students and one teacher participated in the summer school.

They learnt programming Arduino starting from the basic task of blinking LED to building RF transmitter and receiver units for transmitting digital data over CB radios.

For the project, the students built a GPS tracker which transmitted the GPS coordinates via SMS. The system was fitted to a light aircraft and a tethered weather balloon for the final tests.

In particular the School thanks Dr Johnson Thie and  A/P Philip Leong for their strong involvement and dedication to a very successful summer school.
