EMERGENCY PERSONNEL AND STAFF ROLES

The University recognises only two formal positions in the area of Safety within a Department.

These are : --

  1. The Safety Officer.
    Either the Head of Department or an appointed Person will fulfill this role.
  2. First Aid Officers.
    The department will attempt to maintain at least three personnel to fulfill these roles.

IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY SITUATION IT IS EXPECTED THAT ALL STAFF WILL BE FAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES AND BE ABLE TO ASSUME AND FULFIL ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ROLES.

  1. FLOOR WARDEN

  2. STAIR WARDEN

  3. RUNNER
