WHAT TO DO : RUNNERS

WHEN THE FIRE ALARM BELL SOUNDS CONTINUOUSLY:-

Proceed to the MAIN FIRE STAIR EXIT which is adjacent to the lifts on any floor. If instructed by another member of staff that he has assumed the role of Floor Warden follow their directions.

  1. Carry out any instructions given by the Floor Warden or Stair Warden as necessary.

  2. If requested to clear a designated area of the floor, direct people to the indicated Fire Exits. Do not argue with people.
    Issue the following instruction :-

"This is an emergency. You are required to leave the building immediately. Do not use the lifts. Use the fire stairs only."

  1. When your area is clear, report to the Floor Warden or Stair Warden at the main Fire stair Exit which is adjacent to the lifts on each floor.

  2. If you are not required to assist with the evacuation of any other floor, proceed to the assembly area.

  3. If required, provide assistance to other floor wardens.
