Triggering the CRO Trace
What Do We Mean By Triggering?
- Well when an signal is applied to the input of
the CRO we require a mechanism that tells the CRO to trace the
input signal on the display.
This mechanism is called the CRO
Triggering Circuit.
- Essentially when the trace circuit is activated
two steps occur:
- The input signal is fed through the trace
causing it to "trace" the input signal
on the display.
- When trace runs to the edge of the
display it then "traces" the signal on
the display again.
- The second step above is repeated over and over
again and it is most important that the trace begins in
exactly the same place on the input signal as before
because if it does not we will not get a useful reading
on the display.

Adjusting the Triggering Controls
- The trigger circuit of the CRO can be adjusted
using the four controls listed below:
