Kumudu Munasinghe was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. His primary and secondary education was from Nalanda College, Colombo. He received his B.Sc. (Computer Science) degree from the University of Delhi, India in 1998 with a First Class. He received his M.Comp. (Networking) and M.Sc. (Honours) by research from the University of Western Sydney, Austrralia in 2001 and 2005 respectively. Kumudu has recently completed his Ph.D. in Engineering from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering of the University of Sydney Australia and currently working as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow for the Wireless Networking Group.

Kumudu has over 20 refereed technical papers in international journals, conference proceedings, and a book chapter to his credit. He is a TPC member/reviewer for many international conferences and journals and won many research awards and grants. Kumudu's research is funded by the ARC Linkage Project, Australian Postgraduate Award  Industry Scholarship (APAI), Norman I Price Scholarship, and the Research Training Scheme (RTS).
